FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about Sovelle candles, care, and orders.
Why am I getting black soot in my candle vessel?
A small amount of soot is normal, but excess soot usually means the wick needs trimming. Always trim your wick to 5 mm before each burn, keep the candle away from drafts for a clean burn and do not burn for too long.
Why does the wax have a slight yellow tone?
A yellow hue can naturally occur in natural waxes, its the natural materials reacting to its surrounding environment. Exposure to sunlight or heat may also shift the colour slightly. This is normal and does not affect scent or performance.
Why has my wick mushroomed?
Wick mushrooming is a natural build-up of carbon as the candle burns. Trim your wick to 5 mm before each burn to minimise this and maintain a clean flame.
What length should I trim my wick?
Trim your wick to 5 mm before every burn. This helps prevent soot, promotes an even burn, and extends the life of your candle.
My candle is tunnelling — why is this?
Tunnelling happens when a candle isn’t burned long enough on the first few burns, causing the wax to melt unevenly. To fix it, allow the candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt to the edges for a full melt pool (usually 2–3 hours).
How long will my order take to arrive?
Orders are processed within 1–2 business days. Most deliveries arrive within 3–7 business days across Australia. You’ll receive tracking details as soon as your order ships.
Can I return my order if I change my mind?
We do not accept returns for change of mind. However, if your order arrives damaged or there is an issue, please contact us within 48 hours at sovellecandles@gmail.com.
Do you offer candle refills?
Not yet, but we’re working on introducing refills in the future. For now, you can reuse your candle vessel by gently cleaning out any remaining wax with warm, soapy water.
How do I clean my candle vessel?
Wait for the candle to fully cool, then remove leftover wax using a spoon or cloth. Wash the inside gently with warm water and mild soap. Let the vessel air-dry completely before reuse.
Are your candles vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Sovelle candles are vegan, cruelty-free, and made from natural coconut–soy wax with premium fragrance blends.
Where are Sovelle candles made?
Every Sovelle candle is hand-poured in Sydney, Australia, in small batches to ensure quality and consistency.
How should I store my candle?
Store your candle in a cool, dry space away from direct sunlight. Natural wax can shift in warm weather and fragrance can fade if exposed to prolonged heat.
